I was planning to spend my weekend at home but I randomly ended at my sister’s nevermind why. After a little trip to the supermarket and my little sister’s idea of making bread we ended up in the kitchen actually baking bread. It was the first time ever we have baked bread so we were hoping to actually get it right…
This is what you need to get started…
500 g of flour
25g of butter
1 1/4 tsp salt
1 1/2 tsp yeast
350ml warm water
2tsp sugar to give added flavour and thicker crust
For the yeast… One tablespoon of yeast and one teaspoon of sugar added to warm water, stir and let it for 10 mins in a warm place.
For the dough. Mix together the flour and salt, rub in the butter and stir in the yeast. Now, add the water and mix to a dough. Turn the dough to a floured surface and knead well for another 10 mins or more. Be patient at this point…I had to be…. Place the dough in a tray, you can divide and shape it the way you would like it at this point and leave it until double the size (roughly hour and half ) in a warm place and covered with a clean, damp cloth. Unfold and bake for around 30 mins.
